Some defects are invisible to the eye. Bruises under apple skin, moisture in plastic pellets, contaminants in pharmaceutical powder, plastic types on a sorting belt. The H-Series sees in three bands — Visible, NIR, and SWIR — so chemistry and water content stop hiding.
Standard cameras see what the eye sees — three colour bands across 400 to 700 nanometres. The H-Series sees that, plus near-infrared (NIR, 700–1100 nm) and shortwave infrared (SWIR, 1100–1700 nm). NIR reveals water content, organic compounds, and subsurface bruising. SWIR distinguishes plastic types (PET vs HDPE vs PVC), detects moisture in dry powders, and sees contaminants invisible at any wavelength humans can perceive.
All three bands are captured in one pass over the product. The sensor is linescan, with the production line providing the scan motion. At 4 kHz line rate over a 2048-pixel-wide field, you get a complete spectral image of every product passing under the camera.
SWIR sensors are noisy at room temperature. The H-Series uses a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) to hold the InGaAs sensor at -10°C above ambient, dropping dark noise by an order of magnitude. The result: clean spectral data even from low-reflectance samples like dark plastics or wet produce.
The H-Series ships pre-trained for three application classes — produce sorting (apples, potatoes, citrus), pharma (tablet inspection, powder homogeneity), and plastics (resin identification, contamination). For other applications, our team trains a custom model from samples in two to four weeks.
