OCR & Code Verification

Every batch number, date code, lot ID, and serial that leaves your line — captured, read, validated against the manufacturing record, and logged with image evidence. Reads fonts your eye struggles with; validates checksums and formats your eye can't compute; flags mismatches before they become recalls.

Why it matters

When a wrong code reaches the customer, it isn't a print defect.

It's a recall, a regulatory event, an audit trail. Operators can't keep up at line speed; manual sampling catches one in a thousand. The IX-OV/03 reads every code, validates every format, and writes every verdict — at 600 packs per minute.

Two paths to the same outcome

Retrofit, or build it in from the start.

Retrofit · use what you have

If you already have an inspection camera.

Many plants already have a basic OCR camera reading codes. The problem is what happens after the read: most existing systems just compare against a single golden string with no awareness of date format, checksum, or batch logic. We connect to your existing camera over GigE Vision, EtherNet/IP, or a frame-grab, layer our OCR + validation engine on top, and route the verdict to your existing PLC.

  • Keep your existing camera; we add the AI + validation layer
  • Native bridges: GigE Vision · Camera Link · USB3 Vision · RTSP
  • Validation engine: format rules · checksums · date logic · per-SKU expectations
  • Audit log written to your existing MES / LIMS via OPC UA
  • Typical timeline: 2-3 weeks from kickoff to live verdicts
Greenfield · spec from scratch

If you're building the line from scratch.

A new line gets the IX-OV/03 — a complete OCR vision station designed for the job. 12 MP area-scan body, project-tuned optics, integrated lighting, 12 pre-trained fonts, 10 pre-built code formats, and PLC integration in the protocol you already use. First inspection on day one of integration.

  • Complete station: camera + lens + lighting + controller + integration
  • 12 pre-trained fonts: dot-matrix, OCR-A/B, MICR, ink-jet, laser
  • Pre-built validation: GS1-128, GS1 DataMatrix, EAN, custom
  • <150 ms verdict latency, 600 packs/minute sustained throughput
  • Typical timeline: 4-6 weeks from PO to commissioned line
How it works

Four steps from camera to verdict.

01

Capture

Trigger fires. Camera captures at the moment the code passes the inspection window — 12 MP global shutter, no motion blur.

02

Read

OCR engine reads the code against the configured font. Confidence score per character, full-string consensus.

03

Validate

Format check, calendar check, checksum check, per-SKU range check. Diagnostic codes for read-fail vs validate-fail.

04

Log + verdict

Pass/fail to PLC in <150 ms. Image + result + timestamp written to audit log for retention period.
